SLOW DANCE
Have you ever
watched
kids
watched
kids
On a merry-go-round?
Or listened to
the
rain
the
rain
Slapping on the ground?
Ever followed a
butterfly's erratic flight?
Or gazed at the sun into the
fading night?
fading night?
You better slow down.
Don't
dance so
fast.
dance so
fast.
Time is short.
The music
won't
last.
Do you run through each day
On the fly?
When you ask "How are you?"
Do you hear the reply?
When the day is done
do you lie in your bed
do you lie in your bed
With the next hundred chores
Running through
your head?
your head?
You'd better
slow down.
Don't dance so
fast.
Time is
short.
short.
The music won't
last.
Ever told your child,
We'll do it tomorrow?
And in your haste,
Not see his
sorrow?
sorrow?
Ever lost touch,
Let a good
friendship die
friendship die
'Cause you never had time
To call and say, "Hi".
You'd
better slow down.
Don't dance
so fast.
Time
is short.
The music won't
last.
When you run so fast to get somewhere
You miss half the fun of getting
there.
there.
When you worry and hurry
through your
day,
through your
day,
It is like an unopened
gift....
gift....
Thrown
away.
away.
Life is not a
race.
race.
Do take it
slower
Hear the
music
music
Before the song is over.
Do you rush through life? Do you call a friend just to say "Hi"? This poem sounds like my life sometimes. I would love to be in more contact with some of my friends. Do you use excuses? I know I do sometimes. Most days I think my life is so busy and I couldn't possibly fit one more thing in my schedule when in reality I drive an hour to work which means I have two hours a day of driving... TWO hours a day when I could make those phone calls to those friends far away. I know I rush through my day. After reading this I am going to make that effort to call those friends if it's just once a week or once a month. It is relieving to catch up with friends and not always hear that voice in the back of your head "I should call... but I just don't have time". I am going to take things slow and not rush through life. I mean isn't that one of the reasons we are on earth... to enjoy life, the people we interact and encounter each day. To enjoy our surroundings? Here in the midwest, if you haven't taken a walk/run outside to enjoy the things of fall do it today.
Do it today. Don't wait until tomorrow.
Happy Friday Friends!
